I am a Master’s student in the DARWIN program in Evolutionary Biology and Ecology at the University of Montpellier, currently completing a double degree with the agronomic engineering curriculum at Institut Agro Montpellier. My academic and research path has been driven by a strong interest in evolutionary genomics, speciation, and the diversification of species in insular environments. My training combines rigorous preparation in biology, ecology, and evolutionary genetics—initiated through two years of preparatory classes and consolidated during my Bachelor’s studies at Institut Agro Montpellier. My early engagement in research began within the Junior Research Lab track of my Master’s first year, where I carried out a four-month project on the sequencing of a durum wheat parasite in collaboration with the PHIM Joint Research Unit and the ARCAD laboratory. During my gap year (2024–2025), I completed a nine-month research internship at CIIMAR (Porto) under the supervision of Jean-Baptiste Ledoux. My work focused on speciation, hybridization, and the evolution of symbiosis in octocorals (Eunicella and Alcyonium) using whole-genome resequencing (WGS) data. This experience allowed me to develop strong expertise in bioinformatics, large-scale genomic analyses, and evolutionary genomics. I am now completing my Master’s thesis, titled “Investigating Sex Chromosome Evolution in Dioecious Laurels: Insights into Baker’s Law and the Colonization of Atlantic Islands”, co-supervised by Gabriel Marais (ISEM) and Jos Käfer (GreenUPorto). This project integrates field sampling, sex chromosome analysis, and population genomics to explore the evolution of dioecy in relation to island colonization processes. Across these experiences, my scientific interests have consistently centered on genomic approaches to biodiversity, and the mechanisms driving speciation and reproductive evolution. I aim to pursue a PhD to deepen my expertise in evolutionary genomics and contribute to fundamental research on the diversification of life, particularly within island systems that offer unique opportunities to study evolution.
