My research has been focused on the development of an innovative methodology to study historical glass that combines glass archaeometry, archaeology, history, stylistic aspects, history, and production methodologies. The driving force that conducts my research is the desire to tell the untold story of Portuguese glass production, which goes from the Roman period to the Industrial Revolution. This research path started during my master's degree in 2007 and it was fully developed during my Ph.D. (which ended in 2016), where I studied more than 200 glass objects from archaeological assemblages discovered all over the Portuguese territory, to characterize the glass that circulated in Portugal during the 17th and 18th centuries. The results of my Ph.D. have been disseminated at several international conferences and resulted so far in more than 10 papers. This research resulted in ground-breaking discoveries concerning the glass that circulated in Europe in the early modern period, contributing to its valorization and appreciation by present and future generations. Following my Ph.D., I joined the project entitled The Stained-Glass Collection of King Ferdinand II of Portugal: Assembling the Puzzle (PTDC/EPH-PAT/3579/2012) as a researcher, where I am the first author of one of the nine publications that resulted from this project. After, in 2017, I spent a year as a researcher at the VICARTE R&D unit, using this time to spread my research areas and develop partnerships with museums, archaeologists, and researchers from CNRS France, The British Isles, Spain, Croatia, Israel, USA, and several Portuguese institutions and individualities. I spent one and a half months at The Corning Museum of Glass, NY (USA) participating in a very competitive internship (to deepen my glass conservation and restoration skills), where I worked mainly with Roman glass. I was part of the scientific and organizing committees of 5 international conferences and I was the first editor of 2 proceedings and 1 exhibition catalogue. Since 2018 I am an Assistant Professor at the Department of Conservation and Restoration (DCR), where I am responsible for the glass and ceramics conservation laboratory. I am also responsible for the courses Fundamentals of Glass and Ceramics Conservation (Bachelor degree in C&R), Conservation and Restoration of Glass and Ceramics (Master in C&R), and Glass and Ceramics History (Master of Glass and Ceramic Art and Science). In 2018 I was invited to participate in the COST Action IS-LE (CA18129) to assume the role of Science Communication Coordinator, an integrated member of the Project Core Group, which adds value to my visibility not only as a researcher but also to my skills in communicating science, in storytelling and the management of people and information. Between 2019 and the beginning of 2020 I enrolled in several training courses in grant writing, storytelling, and leadership to improve my knowledge and my skills. I am currently the coPI of the exploratory research project HERIT-AGES. Plastic and Glass ¿Ages¿ for whom? Exploring new avenues for valuing and preserving heritage for the future. (ref. EXPL/ART-OUT/0146/2021). My skills as a team leader are also reflected by my actions as a supervisor (18 MSc, 2 PhD ongoing, 2 international internships, visiting researchers, and many students in science projects) and co-supervisor (1 PhD, 1 PhD ongoing and 4 MSc). I have a significant track record in different areas with 42 published papers and book chapters (34 papers in peer-reviewed journals and proceedings, 15 of which I am the corresponding author and 16 the first author, and 5 book chapters), 39 oral communications (26 as a speaker and 11 as invited speaker) and 16 posters. My ability to attract students has enabled me to train the next generation of glass and ceramics conservators in Portugal, as evidenced by the large number of master's theses I have supervised.
