Maria J. S. A. Silva obtained her MSc in Pharmaceutical Sciences in 2016 from the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Lisbon (FFUL). During her Master degree, she joined Dr. Pedro Gois group to work on Chemical Biology and later, she did a 3-month internship at Sapienza, Università di Roma in Medicinal Chemistry thanks to the Erasmus Programme. In May 2021, she received her PhD degree in Pharmacy with the highest grade, distinction and honors at FFUL. Her PhD studies focused on novel site-selective bioconjugation strategies and their application to targeted photodynamic therapy in a joint project under the supervision of Dr. Pedro Gois and Prof. Dr. Gilles Gasser from Chimie ParisTech. Last year, she joined the group of Prof. Tanja Weil as a postdoctoral researcher at Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research in Mainz, aiming to design new biotherapeutics to address metastatic niches and study the tumor microenvironment by MS-imaging. So far, she has 8 publications in journals of high impact factor, 4 of them as first author, including one Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. Also recently, she published her first paper as co-corresponding author.
