Cátia Guarda (CG) graduated in Biochemistry in 2014 from the University of Évora (UE) and completed her PhD in Chemistry in 2023 from the Instituto Superior Técnico (IST). Her doctoral thesis was developed in a cutting-edge field of research that results from the intersection between various scientific areas such as Chemistry, Nanotechnology, and Mechanics. The work focused on nanoscale computational modeling of surface-modified graphenes and their interactions with metals and polymers, for advanced technological applications. CG has published 10 articles in international peer-reviewed journals (mainly with an impact factor higher than 6), with 166/127 citations (Google Scholar/Scopus), and has an H-index of 7/7 (Google Scholar/Scopus). She has participated in several conferences. CG was awarded the Mares Circulares - Iniciativas Inovadoras, 2nd place in the H2O & Sustainability Innovation HUB Award, in the PhD & Doctorates Category, and was a finalist in the Novo Verde Packaging Enterprise Award. Her research interests include computational studies of carbon nanomaterials, polymers, metals, composites, sustainable polymers, polymer degradation, traceability markers, and microplastic removal systems.
