My doctorate is in mechanical engineering, specifically in the area of materials and structures. I previously completed my MSc in biomechanics, worked for a while as a project engineer, and am a registered inventor on multiple patents. I shifted more and more into management and administrative roles over time. By co-directing a PhD thesis and serving on the committees for multiple MSc theses, I also maintained a connection to the teaching profession. I then established myself creating my own consulting company, in the area of forensic engineering, as manager and materials specialist. Currently I've been teaching for the last 2 and a half years at the ESTG-IPVC in Viana do Castelo, Portugal in the BsC degree on Mechanical Engineering where I am a full time adjunct professor and degree coordinator.
