I hold a Master’s degree in Biomedical Research (Neurobiology specialization, grade: 19/20) from the University of Coimbra and a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Aveiro. My academic path has been shaped by a strong interest in biomedical sciences, particularly cognitive neuroscience, which has been the focus of both my Master’s thesis and my current research activities. During my Master’s, I conducted a thesis titled “Neural Adaptation in Object Recognition: Unveiling Neural Processing Patterns through fMRI,” developed at the Proaction Lab (University of Coimbra). In this project, I investigated the dynamics of neural adaptation using complex fMRI protocols combined with repetition suppression designs and advanced signal processing approaches. The thesis received the highest final grade (20/20) and produced results currently being prepared for publication. The findings were presented in the poster format at scientific meetings such as the 18th and 19th Encontros da Associação Portuguesa de Psicologia Experimental (APPE) and the SAW - Seeing and Acting Workshop. My technical skill set includes advanced experience in fMRI preprocessing and analysis, as well as proficiency in programming languages relevant to cognitive neuroscience research, including MATLAB, Python, and Shell script. I developed these skills autonomously, as they were not part of the formal curriculum of my degrees. I also completed complementary training in animal experimentation and international collaborative research through the VI Modular Training in Laboratory Animal Science and the Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) program. Currently, I am working as a Research Assistant at the Proaction Lab, where I continue to develop neuroimaging research within the CogBooster project (EU Grant: 101087584). This experience allows me to remain actively involved in cognitive neuroscience, engage in high-level scientific discussions, and contribute to new data collection and analysis pipelines. I am also committed to science communication. I participated in events such as “A Neurociência Vai à Escola” and “A Noite Europeia dos Investigadores”, presenting core neuroscience concepts to school children and the general public. Additionally, I introduced the Proaction Lab’s research to prospective university students during the University of Coimbra’s “Universidade de Inverno” events. In September 2025, I attended the Cognitive Neuroimaging Skills Training in Cambridge (COGNESTIC) summer school. This intensive two-week course was designed to equip emerging researchers with the latest open science practices in neuroimaging and has further enhanced my ability to conduct high-quality, reproducible fMRI research.
