Cristiana A V Torres completed the PhD in Chemical and Biochemical Engineering Nova School of Science and Technology, in 2012. Currently, is a contracted Researcher at UCIBIO FCT NOVA. She develops work in the area(s) of Industrial Biotechnology, with the emphasis on bioprocesses development for bioproducts and biomaterials production and downstream, namely polyhydroxyalkanoates, exopolysaccharydes and fine-chemicals (vanillin, 2-Phenylethanol, phenazines). She also has expertise on physical-chemical characterization of bacterial biopolymers: rheology (aqueous solution properties); sugar composition; molecular weight, etc. Cristiana has been collaborating in numerous national and European projects, currently she is a team member of the BioICEP and Promicon projects. She published 41 articles in journals, 4 book chapters and is on of the inventors of 1 national grantes patent. She also published a book chapter in a National journal. Further, she has over 50 oral communications (8 of them by invitation) and 28 posters communications in national and international conferences. She received 3 awards and/or honors. She is currently supervising/co-supervises 4 PhD theses) and supervising 2 Master thesis. Supervised 16 MSc dissertation(s) , 5 work(s) of course completion of LSc/BSc. Since 2017 she has been an Invited Assistant Professor at FCT-NOVA (Chemistry Department), being involved in the lab classes of different subjects of the Chemical and Biochemical Engineering MSc and of the Biotechnology MSc.
