Guilherme completed the Master's degree in Physics Engineering in 2016 at the Faculty of Sciences of the NOVA University of Lisbon (FCT-UNL). During this period, he conducted research in the field of Atomic and Molecular Physics as a research student at LibPhys, focusing on instrumentation for ultraviolet spectrophotometry, and was also an active member of the Engineering Physics Students' Association (NEFCT). In 2017, joined the Laboratory of Instrumentation and Experimental Particle Physics (LIP) in Coimbra with a research grant for master's studies, working as a developer in the control system group (slow control) of the LUX-ZEPLIN (LZ) dark matter experiment. Subsequently, he was awarded a Ph.D. scholarship in Physics Engineering by the University of Coimbra, completed in 2023 with the highest distinction. During his Ph.D., he played a crucial role in the LZ collaboration, developing methods for reconstructing the position and energy of particles interacting with the detector. In the fulfilling of the Ph.D. tasks, there was an improvement in the procedure for creating a scintillation response model, as well as the development of new methods to standardize this response, resulting in a significant improvement in the performance of existing algorithms. During this work, Guilherme actively participated in LZ collaboration group activities, contributing to data analysis, presenting relevant results, and assisting in the planning of detector calibration operations. Additionally, he was responsible for developing the Human-Machine Interface (HMI), hardware integration for the LZ control system, as well as the alarm and parameter history system for the detector. The work developed was presented at international conferences, resulting in 12 co-authored publications in international peer-reviewed journals. He also participated in national scientific outreach events, such as the Research Day at the Department of Physics and the 20th JORTEC of the FCT, and was involved in events organized by LIP, such as the 6th edition of the "IDPASC/LIP PhD Students Workshop" and the "LIP Internship Program - 2021". Additionally, he contributed to events promoted by primary schools in Lisbon, where a didactic fog chamber developed by LIP was presented. From 2020 to 2022, he served as a representative of students from the Coimbra branch of LIP.
