Ana is a senior design researcher based in Porto with professional experience in industry, academia and the public sector. Her initial training was on industrial design, followed by a PhD in industrial engineering and management, with additional specialisations in ethnography and in business design. Ana's work has received recognition in the form of design awards, paper awards, and in scholarships which led her to Japan and Germany. Currently, Ana is at Fraunhofer AICOS, a research centre on digital technology, as Head of Human-Centred Design leading a multidisciplinary group of designers, engineers and clinical researchers. Ana's research, which includes leading large National and European projects, focuses on inclusive, spontaneous and participatory design in the fields of health and wellbeing, both at home and at work environments.
