Graduated in Biomedical Sciences in 2011 and awarded with MSc in Molecular Biology and Genetics in 2014 at Faculdade de Ciências, Universidade de Lisboa. In 2017, I started my PhD in the ProRegeM PhD programme (NOVA/UAlgarve) supervised by Prof. Conde at CEDOC, NMS/NOVA and by Prof. Paulo Matafome at iCBR, Faculty of Medicine of Coimbra, with the project entitled "Targeting the carotid bodies to treat obesity". During my PhD I traveled between Prof. Conde and Matafome labs, but I also went abroad for 4 months (2018) to the Faculty of Medicine of Valladolid (Spain) and in the last year of my PhD (2020), I was awarded with Albert Renold Travel Fellowship from the European Foundation for the Study of Diabetes to spend 6 months at l'Institut de Pharmacologie Moléculaire et Cellulaire, CNRS, INSERM, France to perform work included in my PhD. Since I started my scientific journey, I published 16 papers, from which 13 were in the last 5 years, 2 as first author. Also, I am now preparing the publication of 2 papers as 1st author that include my PhD work. The recognition of my scientific track can be seen by the several awards (Best Poster Early Career Physiologists' Symposium, Best Poster SPCAL) and grants (AstraZeneca Innovate Competition; Albert Renold; Shirahata travel grant) received in these last years. Moreover, I act as a reviewer for several scientific journals. I also co-supervised 2 degree projects of Biochemistry students and I am involved in the organization of the International Society of Arterial Chemoreceptors (ISAC) XXI Meeting.
