Arlete Apolinário is a Junior Researcher at IFIMUP/FCUP who specializes in materials physics (nanomaterials) and engineering mainly focused on advanced energy materials, such as 3rd generation solar cells: nanostructured semiconductors. She has a strong background as an autonomous user in several advanced types of equipment (e.g. SEM, AFM, STM, DRX, SQUID). She graduated in Applied Physics in 2008 from the Faculty of Sciences of Porto University, followed by an MSc in Engineering Physics in 2011. After completing her Ph.D. in Physics in 2015, she was awarded in 2016 with the best Ph.D. thesis of the Faculty of Sciences of Porto University. She proceeded in 2016 with her Postdoc at the Faculty of Engineering of Porto University, in the scale-up of Photoelectrochemical Cells for Hydrogen Production under the frame of the EU project led by the worldwide topic leader Professor Roel van de Krol. She is the PI of the recently granted project H2FlexiPEC's (2022.07332.PTDC, http://doi.org/10.54499/2022.07332.PTDC) funded by FCT. She has a large participation in research projects with a total of 18, projects, 7 European and 11 National. She has published 40 articles in journals (h-factor 14 with 556 citations) and 1 book chapter. Has received 5 awards and/or honors including being selected as a Committee member in the decoration of the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto with the title "Membro Honorário da Ordem da Instrução Pública" by the Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa. From 2015 to 2020 she was an invited Professor at Universidade Católica Portuguesa-Bioengineering school, and in 2023 she was Invited Assistant Professor at Physics and Astronomy, Faculdade de Ciências Universidade do Porto.
