Patricio Lagos Lizana is a Chilean/Portuguese astronomer with expertise in the field of galaxy formation and evolution. He completed his bachelor and master's degrees in Physics at the Universidad Católica de Chile (PUC) and earned his PhD at the Observatório Nacional in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 2004. His PhD research focused on studying the spatially resolved properties of HII/Blue Compact Dwarf galaxies using Integral Field Spectrographs/Spectroscopy (IFS) and near-infrared imaging. His PhD was recognized by the Universidade do Porto, Portugal, in 2019. Patricio has authored over 40 peer-reviewed scientific articles, with 10 of these being first-authored and 6 coming from his former students. He has a strong presence in the astronomical community, participating in numerous conferences, workshops, and scientific meetings. He has established a wide international network of collaborations with astrophysicists across countries like Brazil, Portugal, Mexico, South Africa, Spain, and Chile. Patricio has successfully led several Principal Investigator (PI) and co-PI observational proposals. These include major optical and radio telescopes/instruments like GMOS long-slit, GMOS-IFU, VLT/VIMOS-IFU, VLT/MUSE, SALT/RSS, the Very Large Array (VLA), and the South African SKA precursor MeerKAT (x2).
