Raul Carpi Santos é biomédico formado com láurea acadêmica em biomedicina com ênfase em Fisiologia e Farmacologia (2011) pela Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF). Possui mestrado (2013) e doutorado (2017) em neurociências pelo Programa de Pós-Graduação em Neurociências da UFF. Na sua formação, desenvolveu projetos relacionados à retinopatia diabética no laboratório de neurobiologia da retina. Durante o período do doutorado, realizou um com estágio de doutorado-sanduíche na Wayne State University, EUA (2016). Atualmente, está realizando Pós-doutorado no Laboratório de Neurobiologia Celular da Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) em que desenvolve projetos relacionados com a influência dos astrócitos no desenvolvimento da doença de Alzheimer.
