Sabrina Rodrigues Magalhães

Sabrina M. Rodrigues Magalhães is a biologist with a Master’s degree in Marine Sciences - Marine Resources and a PhD in Aquatic Sciences - Biology and Ecology. Her research focuses on microplastic contamination in estuarine and coastal environments and its impacts on wildlife and ecosystems. She has contributed to several national and international projects, including OMARE, NETTAG, FreeLitter, NETTAG+, Atlantida, and Nature, gaining extensive experience in experimental and sampling design, fieldwork across diverse aquatic environments, laboratory procedures, and data analysis. She has published several papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals, including seven as first author, and has presented her work through both oral and poster presentations at multiple national and international conferences. Currently, she works at CIIMAR (Interdisciplinary Centre of Marine and Environmental Research) in Porto, Portugal. She is involved in several national and international projects (e.g., NETTAG+, Planktastic, FreeLitter) focused on the detection, monitoring, and reduction of pollution. She is also actively engaged in outreach activities (e.g., European Researchers’ Night, CIIMAR Open Day), as well as in committees and associations such as GreenLab.
