Fernanda Fontana Roman completed her Master in Chemical Engineering in 2018 at Instituto Politécnico de Bragança while simultaneously earning her Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Universidade Tecnológica Federal do Paraná - Câmpus Ponta Grossa, through a double degree program between the two institutions. During her undergraduate studies, she was awarded a full scholarship by CNPq (Brazil) to attend a two-semester exchange program at the University of Calgary, Canada. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Chemical and Biological Engineering at Universidade do Porto, supported by a Ph.D. scholarship from FCT (Portugal). Her research focuses on the development and modification of carbon-based materials derived from low-cost precursors for environmental remediation applications, particularly in catalysis and pollutant removal - from water and fuels. With a strong background in materials science and chemical engineering, she has contributed significantly to the field, publishing 25 articles in national and international peer-reviewed journals and presenting over 70 abstracts/full papers at scientific conferences. She has collaborated on multiple projects related to waste valorization, wastewater treatment, advanced oxidation processes, sustainable fuel production, and carbon nanomaterials. Her expertise in sustainable technologies and environmental chemistry continues to drive her passion for developing innovative solutions to global environmental challenges.
