Antonio Luis Pereira do Amaral concluiu a Licenciatura em Engenharia Biológica em 1996, o Mestrado em Engenharia Biológica em 1999 e o Doutoramento em Engenharia Química e Biológica em 2003 pela Universidade do Minho. Entre 2003 e 2023 foi Membro integrado do Centro de Engenharia Biológica na Universidade do Minho. É, correntemente, Professor Coordenador no Instituto Superior de Engenharia de Coimbra - Instituto Politécnico de Coimbra. Possui, correntemente, um índice h de 22, sendo autor de um total de 157 publicações referentes a 1 Tese de Mestrado, 1 Tese de Doutoramento, 2 capítulos de livro, 66 artigos completos em revistas com revisão, 85 publicações em atas de conferências com revisão e 2 patentes e 1 modelo de utilidade registados. Apresentou 22 comunicações orais e 16 em poster, e foi coautor de outras 21 comunicações orais e 27 em poster, em conferências com revisão. Coorientou 1 tese de pós-doutoramento, 3 teses de doutoramento e 12 dissertações de mestrado concluídas e foi arguente principal, ou vogal do júri, de três teses de Doutoramento e de 34 teses de Mestrado. Participou como membro da equipa em 8 projetos de investigação científica e de 3 outros projetos estratégicos financiados e como Investigador responsável em 2 projetos de investigação científica financiados. Foi membro de comissões científicas em 31 eventos científicos, tendo revisto um total de 95 artigos para revistas internacionais com revisão e 83 publicações para conferências com revisão. Tem como áreas de especialidade: Aplicação de técnicas benchmarking a entidades gestoras do setor das águas e saneamento; metodologias de coloração, microscopia, processamento e análise de imagem em processos biotecnológicos e tratamento de águas residuais; técnicas de estatística multivariável. Antonio Luis Pereira do Amaral completed a Degree in Biological Engineering in 1996, a Master's in Biological Engineering in 1999 and a PhD in Chemical and Biological Engineering in 2003 from University of Minho. From 2003 to 2023 was an Integrated member of the Centre of Biological Engineering (CEB) at University of Minho. Currently is a Coordinator Professor at Coimbra Institute of Engineering - Polytechnic Institute of Coimbra. Currently possess an h index of 22. Author of a total of 157 publications referring to 1 Master Thesis, 1 Doctoral Thesis, 2 book chapters, 66 full articles in peer-reviewed journals, 85 publications in peer-reviewed conference proceedings, 2 patent and 1 utility model registered. Presented 22 oral communications and 16 posters, and co-authored another 21 oral communications and 27 posters, in peer-reviewed conferences. Supervised 1 concluded Pos-Doc, 3 concluded PhD theses, and 12 concluded Master's dissertations and was the main arguer, or member of the jury, of three PhD and 34 Master's degrees. Participated as a team member in 8 financed scientific projects and 3 Strategic projects and as a Principal Researcher in 2 financed scientific projects. Member of the scientific committee of 31 scientific events, reviewing a total of 95 articles for peer-reviewed international journals and 83 publications for peer-reviewed conferences. The areas of expertise are: Application of benchmarking techniques to service providers in the water and sanitation sector; staining, microscopy, image processing and analysis methodologies in biotechnological processes and wastewater treatment; multivariable statistical techniques.
