I am a member of the ISCTE-University Institute of Lisbon Centre for International Studies (Centro de Estudos Internacionais, ISCTE-CEI) Democracy, Activism and Citizenship Research Group. As of March 2023 I am Principal Investigator (PI) on my 6-year research project "#WillPortugalFallBehind? Portuguese Public Universities' Responses to the Global Challenge of Decolonising the Curriculum", funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT, https://doi.org/10.54499/2022.04609.CEECIND/CP1750/CT0003). Prior to joining ISCTE-IUL I held research, teaching and visiting positions at universities in Austria, Germany, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Pakistan, the UK, and Portugal. I have been PI on an ESRC-funded Post-Doctoral Fellowship and consultant for the Open Society Initiative for Southern Africa (OSISA). I am also Honorary Assistant Professor/Independent Consultant at the Centre for International Education Research (CIER), University of Nottingham (UK); Researcher of the Latin American Council of Social Sciences (CLACSO, Argentina); Member of the Research Group on South-South Cooperation and Regional Integrations (GI-CSS, REEDES, Spain); and International Collaborator of the Maringá State University (UEM) Study and Research Group of Basic and Higher Education (GEDUC, Brazil). I approach the transdisciplinary field of Global Development & Education through theories and methodologies of Sociology/Political Sociology, Human Geography and International Relations, and such knowledge fields as global governance, national policy-making, global justice, South-South cooperation, and decolonisation.
