Luís Simões is a clinical and health psychologist. He is accredited as a Specialist in Clinical and Health Psychology by the Portuguese Board of Psychologists (OPP) and as a Schema Focused Therapist by the International Society of Schema Therapy (ISST). He is also registered as a practitioner clinical psychologist by the Health and Care Professions Council (UK). Luis graduated from the University of Coimbra in 2005, with a bachelor’s degree in psychology – sub-specialisation in cognitive-behavioural interventions in clinical psychology. In 2011, he has successfully completed his integrated master’s degree in psychology within the same area of knowledge, cognitive-behavioural interventions in psychological and health disorders from the same university. Luis values ongoing training and focuses on delivering empirically supported and the most up to date psychological interventions to the people he works with. As a result, Luis has attended a vast number of training courses over the years, mainly cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) based. He has successfully completed three training courses on ACT (ACT for beginners, 2019; ACT for Trauma, 2021; ACT for Grief and Loss, 2022), three training modules on Schema Focused Therapy (2016-2017) and a module on Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (2016). He has additionally completed training on mindfulness and compassion-based interventions (2020) and attends regularly short-training courses. Moreover, Luis has frequently attended clinical supervision (2009-2011; 2015-2020), valuing a reflexive clinical practice. Luis currently works at the Clinical Psychology Unit of Coimbra Local Health Unit. He has been working in healthcare settings for approximately 15 years.
