Gonçalo Teixeira is a Researcher currently working in engineered proteins for sensing applications, namely odorant-binding proteins from vertebrates and insects. He finished his PhD in Bioengineering Systems (MIT Portugal) named "Olfaction inspired sensing using tailor-made proteins". Gonçalo arrived in the Biomolecular Engineering Lab in 2016 to complete his master thesis in Biotechnology from NOVA FCT, to study the chemical and biological synthesis of an engineered affinity protein, where he had the opportunity to work in the University of Marseille (iSM2) for 2 months. He then worked in the SCENT project as a Research Assistant from January to March 2018, before starting his PhD. Gonçalo holds a Bachelor Degree in Biochemistry from the University of Coimbra and a Masters in Biotechnology from FCT NOVA. As a student, he was involved in both associative and sports activities. He is currently in the National Biochemists Association.
