Julia Lübbers successfully completed her Ph.D. in paleoceanography, micropalaeontology, and climate reconstruction in 2021 from the Christian-Albrechts-University of Kiel. She holds both a Master's and Bachelor's degree in Geoscience, specializing in applied Geoscience and Paleontology, obtained from the Institute of Geoscience at Kiel University. Currently, Julia Lübbers is engaged in a fixed-term Postdoctoral position within the RECAP Project at the Centre for Marine and Environmental Research (CIMA) – University of Algarve. During her doctoral research, she focused on reconstructing the paleoceanography evolution of the Indo-Pacific Warm Pool, primarily centering her work on the Integrated Ocean Drilling Program (IODP) Site U1443 in the Indian Ocean. Here, she reconstructed the evolution of the middle to late Miocene carbonate crash. Her current endeavors involve defining measures to mitigate climate change, where she assesses the potential benefits and risks of alkalinity enhancement in intertidal environments. This work aims to inform future implementation of upscaling scenarios for decarbonization. Notably, her research findings have been disseminated through publications in book chapters, high-impact journal papers, and presentations at conferences. Julia Lübbers has actively collaborated with researchers from diverse scientific areas and various countries, contributing to co-authored scientific publications. Her involvement in fieldwork campaigns and participation in an oceanographic research cruise underscores her commitment to practical applications within her research domain.

2017/05/12 - 2017/06/04 R/V Sonne Cruise SO257 “WACHEIO” - WESTERN AUSTRALIAN CLIMATE HISTORY FROM EASTERN INDIAN OCEAN SEDIMENT ARCHIVES The high-resolution Holocene to late Pleistocene sediment archives along the Northwestern Australian Margin provides crucial information to explore the spectrum of natural climate variability and to untangle dynamic processes and feedbacks controlling climate evolution in relation to high latitude climate change over the last 135 000 years. A total of 369 m (13 deployments of the piston corer) and 38 multicores were recovered. Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel Institut für Geowissenschaften, Germany
