Alberto José Delgado dos Reis é Engenheiro Químico (IST-1987), Mestre e Doutorado em Engenharia Bioquímica (IST-1992 e 2001) e realizou estudos Pós-Doutorais na Universidade de Birmingham (Reino Unido). Atualmente é Investigador Auxiliar na Unidade de Bioenergia e Biorrefinarias e Coordenador Adjunto da mesma Unidade no Laboratório Nacional de Energia e Geologia (LNEG), I.P. em Lisboa. Investigador Responsável/Coordenador) de vários projetos e redes temáticas nacionais e internacionais em Bioenergia e Biorrefinarias. A sua atividade de Investigação, Desenvolvimento e Inovação tem-se dirigido para a área das biorrefinarias de base energética em geral e em particular as derivadas de microalgas. O domínio de especialização é em processos de produção de biomassa microalgal em fotobioreatores e estudos de downstream processing para fracionamento e obtenção de biocombustíveis avançados e produtos de base biológica. Autor ou co-autor de mais de 100 artigos internacionais com arbitragem e diversos capítulos em livros da especialidade. Avaliador regular de projetos internacionais de investigação, em especial no espaço Ibero-Americano.
