Prof. Ana Tavares joined INRS-EMT in 2005 from Pirelli Labs (Italy), where she was a senior research scientist. Her research interests cover the development of electrode materials, namely transition metal oxides and graphene-based, for applications in energy storage and conversion, wastewater treatment and electrochemical biosensors. She has published over 80 papers in high impact journals in the fields of electrochemistry and materials science (Advanced Energy Materials, Electrochimica Acta, Applied Catalysis B. ACS Catalysis, J. Materials Chemistry A), and has filled / granted 9 patent applications. She is regularly invited to present her research work in national and international conferences. Tavares secured important funding from Canadian and Quebec funding agencies (NSERC Discovery and Partnership grants, FRQNT “nouveaux chercheurs” and team grants, FRQNT Centre Québécois sur les Matériaux Fonctionnels (CQMF), and from CFI “Fond des Leaders”). She is a regular member of the CQMF and of the “Réseau québécois sur l'énergie intelligente (RQEI)”. She was a member of NSERC Strategic partnership committee (Energy), of different FRQNT funding programs (PhD scholarships (Energy), “Relève professorale”, “Samuel de Champlain”, “Programme de recherche pour les chercheurs et chercheuses de college », and she regularly reviews grant applications for national and international funding agencies. She has trained over 70 high qualified personnel (HQP) since she joined INRS, from which 28 HQP since the last six years.
