Rafael Tavares is a PhD student at University of Coimbra, Portugal. He works in the area of Microbiology and his research interests are focused on (i) antibiotic resistance dynamics, namely in environmental compartments impacted by anthropogenic activities (e.g. wastewater), and (ii) in elucidating the contribution of genetic elements such as integrons to antimicrobial resistance and bacterial ecology in those compartments.
