Marta Pais Oliveira (Porto, 1990) is a communications consultant and a PhD student in Literary, Cultural and Interartistic Studies at the University of Porto. She is a Doctoral Student in the Margarida Losa Institute for Comparative Literature. Her main areas of research are Literary and Cultural Studies, Interartistic Studies, Spatial Studies, Contemporary Portuguese Poetry and Ecocriticism. She has a degree in Communication Sciences - Journalism, Public Relations and Communication - from the University of Porto (with a period of study at the Complutense University of Madrid) and a postgraduate degree in Business Communication from Porto Business School. During her degree, she was a researcher on national scientific projects, a member of conferences organization committees and presented papers at international congresses. After a brief stint in journalism, she developed communication and brand management projects. She lived in Mozambique, where implemented distance learning systems. She has worked in advertising and promoted 3D creation in the fashion industry. "Escavadoras" is her first novel, winner of the Agustina Bessa-Luís Revelation Literary Prize 2020 and published in 2021 by Gradiva. This was followed by the short story "O homem na rotunda", published in 2022 by Nova Mymosa. She was part of Relógio D'Água's Singular Tales Collection with the short story "Quando Virmos o Mar". She won the 8th edition of the Nortear Literary Prize with the short story "Medula", published in Portuguese and Galician, and wrote the libretto "Maria Magola", performed at the Informal Opera Festival 2021. She has published poems in poetry collectives and has collaborated with texts in various publications. Named by Jornal de Letras as one of the 40 new names in the arts and literature and member of the Porto Municipal Council for Culture.
