Denise Branco has a PhD in Translation and Terminology from the Joint Programme of the University of Aveiro (UA) and the New University of Lisbon (FSCH-UNL), an MA in English Studies - Specialisation in English for Specific Purposes - from the University of Aveiro and a degree in Portuguese/English from the same university. She is also a researcher in the Entre Línguas - Variação, Tradução, Aprendizagens Group at the Centre for Languages, Literatures and Cultures. She is currently Business Manager at Fraunhofer Portugal AICOS and has been an entrepreneur in the field of technical translation and interpreting since 2007, and a translator and interpreter in the area of security and defence. She has extensive experience in international multicultural and multilingual contexts. Her transversal skills and fields of competence have allowed her to hold different positions within varied organisations, for example as Executive Director at the Mozambique School of Business and Administration (a joint initiative of the Higher Institute of Transport and Telecommunications (ISUTC) and ISCTE-University Institute of Lisbon), as Commercial Manager at a technical company (Mozambique), NORFUND - Norwegian Investment Fund (Mozambique) among others. These experiences have been complemented by teaching English and Portuguese for Specific Purposes at ESTGA - University of Aveiro to management and engineering courses and also within public and private organisations.
