Raquel dos Santos Sarmento holds a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico – Universidade de Lisboa (IST-UL). She completed her Master's degree in Civil Engineering in 2023 at IST-UL and is currently pursuing a PhD in the same field. Her research focuses on thermal comfort and energy efficiency in modular building solutions, and she is actively involved in the development of the “R2UTechnologies – Modular Systems” project at CERIS. She has published articles in both international and national journals, and has also presented papers at international and national conferences. In addition, a poster was presented at a national conference, and has had papers accepted for presentation at a national conference and an international symposium. Between April 1st and May 31st, she will undertake a research stay at UGhent, where she will conduct hygrothermal assessments and simulations on prefabricated panels, and investigate potential joint designs between panels to prevent poor hygrothermal performance.
