Ariana Isabel Pérez Pereira

Ariana Isabel Pérez Pereira has a Licentiate degree (2016) in Forensic Laboratory Sciences and Master’s degree (2019) in Forensic Laboratory Sciences and Techniques, at the University Institute of Health Sciences (IUCS CESPU). As part of her Master's degree, she had the opportunity to join IINFACTS (Institute of Research and Advanced Training in Health Sciences and Technologies) in 2017, as a full-time collaborator, developing the thesis entitled: "Ketamine and norketamine: Enantioseparation, enantioselective ecotoxicity and biodegradation studies", framed in the area of Environmental and Forensic Toxicology. Collaborator of IINFACTS (2017-2020) she had the privilege of being part of CESPU funded projects, which allowed her to develop a multidisciplinary project within the Drug Research Team. As a result of the work developed within the scope of the Master's degree, she published two original articles as first author entitled "Ketamine and norketamine: Enantioresolution and enantioselective aquatic ecotoxicity studies" in Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry journal and "Enantioselective monitoring of biodegradation of ketamine and its metabolite norketamine by liquid chromatography" in Chemosensors journal. She is a member of TOXRUN (Toxicology Research Unit, IUCS-CESPU) since 2021 to 2023 where she has been collaborating on ongoing projects. As a result of this collaboration, she recently published in co-authorship a paper entitled "Assessment of effluents quality through ecotoxicological assays: Evaluation of three wastewater treatment plants with different technologies" in Environmental Science and Pollution Research journal. The skills acquired in liquid chromatography, both analytical and preparative, and knowledge in the field of ecotoxicity with the performance of toxicity tests on aquatic organisms gave support and conditions to start the Biomedical Sciences Doctoral program at IUCS-CESPU (2020) in the 1H-TOXRUN (One Health – Toxicology Research Unit, IUCS-CESPU). Briefly, following the PhD thesis project entitled "Enantioselective ecotoxicity and bioaccumulation of synthetic cathinones in aquatic organisms: protozoan, daphnia and zebrafish" with PhD Scholarship reference 2022.09843.BD awarded by the Foundation for Science and Technology, she recently published two articles in Q1 scientific journals, namely Molecules (IF=4.6), Science of the Total Environment (IF=9.8) and Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part C: Toxicology & Pharmacology (IF=4.3), as well as a chapter book in Comprehensive Analytical Chemistry (Elsevier) and an original article in Q2 scientific journal (Separations, IF=2.7). Furthermore, she is also part of the ENANTIOTOX project (reference project: PTDC/CTA AMB/6686/2020; funding entity: Foundation for Science and Technology) as a researcher. Also, she participated in 20 scientific national conferences (17 as principal author, 8 oral communications and 12 posters) and 14 international meetings (8 as principal author, 1 oral communication and 5 posters). She has experience in supervision academic degree jury (as the main examiner, supervisor and co-supervisor), organization of scientific events and, guest assistant lecturer (Curricular Units: Analytical Chemistry; Forensic Geology and Pedology; Principles of Forensic Sciences; Lofoscopy, Traces and Forensic Photography; and Research Stage in Biomedical Sciences).
