Rafael Ramos is a Civil Engineer with a master's degree in Civil Engineering, specialising in Structures, from the Instituto Superior de Engenharia de Lisboa (ISEL). His master's thesis was carried out at LNEC, where he investigated the influence of the water level on the linear seismic behaviour of concrete dams, under the title (in portuguese) "Modelação do comportamento sísmico de barragens abóbada: Estudo da influência da cota de água". He has worked in the field of engineering and technology as a civil engineer. He has worked mainly in the area of hydraulic systems design and structural design. He is currently a PhD student at Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), under the project ‘I&D SSHM4Dams - Seismic Monitoring and Structural Integrity of Large Concrete Dams’ (LNEC/IST-ID/CERIS), funded by FCT - PTDC/ECI-EGC/5332/2020. He is working on modelling and monitoring the dynamic and seismic behaviour of concrete dams. Throughout his academic and professional career, he has developed skills as: analysis, modelling and design of structures, as well as structural monitoring and studies of seismic behaviour of structures. He is passionate about exploring new technologies and approaches that can improve the safety and efficiency of civil engineering structures, particularly those related to dams,
