Ana Fonseca is currently enrolled in the Doctoral Program for Environmental Sciences and Engineering at the University of Aveiro (UA). She completed her Bachelor’s in Biology (2016-2019) and her Master’s in Biochemistry (2019-2021) at the University of Coimbra (UC). Her master’s thesis was conducted with the Molecular Mycobacteriology and Microbiome group at UC’s Centre for Neurosciences and Cell Biology, focusing on non-tuberculous mycobacteria biofilms formation. Post-graduation, Ana was awarded a research scholarship at the Mediterranean Institute for Agriculture, Environment, and Development. Here, she contributed to the CynaraTeC project, enhancing the valorization of thistle plants by studying their biochemical profiles (2021-2022). In 2022, she joined CECOLAB – Circular Economy Association as a researcher. Her projects spanned waste valorization, circular bioeconomy, and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), through which she deepened her expertise in environmental sciences, focusing on sustainable resource management. Ana currently holds a research grant under the InsectERA Agenda, supervised by Dr. Ana Claúdia Dias and Professor Susana Loureiro. This innovative project explores the use of insects as sustainable raw material sources in new bio-industries.
