Rebeca Ventura da Silva is a student researcher at the Institute of Microbiology of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Coimbra (FMUC). She obtained her B.Sc. in Biology at the Federal University of Pernambuco (Brazil) and her M.Sc. in Microbiology and Microbial Biotechnology at the University of Coimbra. She actively contributed in the research group during the first phase of the project COMPETE2030-FEDER-00525700 – AIRSECUR – Intelligent Air Purification Systems, in a line of research regarding the collection of indoor air to quantify virus, bacteria and fungi to implement models of validating air disinfection procedures, together with an UC based research team specialized in air ventilation and air quality (UC/ADAI). In the meantime, she also monitored and trained internship students during their activities at the lab. Currently, her main research interests are related with AMR bacteria and antifungal natural alternatives; and on the other hand, she picked up interest on the research involving plant growth-promoting bacteria as biological control agents for sustainable agriculture.
