Tomás, since an early stage of his academic path, was curious about manufacturing process. As such, on his 3rd year, he was part of an internship at CENIMAT under the supervison of Dr. Elvira Fortunato, where he developed a biossensor for glucose detection. He gained interest in microelectronics on solar cells. Such interest, lead him to develop his master thesis at INL, under the supervision of Dr.Pedro Salomé. Tomás was responsible for developing a novel structure for ultrathin CIGS, that is currently for a new patent at INL. The current interest of Tomás are the following: solar cells, renewable energy, microfabrication, nanotechnology and microelectronics.

2018/06/02 - Current During Tomás Lopes stay at INL, he was able to get autonomous quickly in the manufacturing process. Thus, he was able to be the practical supervisor of 2 summers students ( June- August) and 4 students that did the internship at in INL. Such activities gave him hand on experience at guiding students during the process that we apply at the INL cleanroom.
