Renata S. Tavares has completed her PhD in Cell Biology in 2014 at the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of the University of Coimbra, Portugal. After some time abroad (UK and USA), she has taken the position of Invited Assistant Professor at the Department of Life Sciences at the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of the University of Coimbra and since 2023 is also a Value-Based Healthcare project manager at Health Cluster Portugal . She is also a researcher working in the Biology of Reproduction and Stem Cells Group at CNC/CIBB, where she also established the Contraception, Endocrine Disruptors and Fertility group in 2018/2019. She has at least 8 book chapters and 27 papers - apart from several conference proceedings and outreach publications, including a book chapter promoting literacy in health. As Guest Editor in the International Journal of Endocrinology she has organized and published at least one special issue in 2020 and is currently Review Editor in Molecular and Cellular Reproduction (specialty section of Frontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology). She actively participates in many Science Communication activities and in the organization of meetings of the field, besides attending several national and international conferences and talk upon invitation at symposiums, workshops and international meetings. She has been the Study Director and PI of preclinical studies related with Contraception for Pharma Companies and PI of projects focusing on the effects of environmental pollution in human reproductive function. She has supervised masters' students, research fellows and is currently the supervisor of 2 PhD students. She has won 6 awards/fellowships so far and her work has been disseminated in national radio interviews and newspaper articles. She works in Biological Sciences with special emphasis on Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry and Reproductive Biology and in Medical and Health Sciences with emphasis in Andrology, Toxicology and Public and Environmental Health.
