Sara Magalhães da Silva is a Junior researcher at CICECO - Aveiro Institute of Materials. In 2021, she obtained her PhD in Materials Engineering from the University of Aveiro (Portugal). Her research is focused on developing cork-based materials adapted for injection moulding; biobased thermoplastic materials; and developing new biobased materials adapted to additive manufacturing technologies (especially extrusion and powder-based). Sara Silva has published 15 papers in international peer-reviewed multidisciplinary high-impact journals plus 3 conference papers, +350 citations (h-index 8), presented at +40 poster/oral national/international conferences, and is a referee in 3 journals. She is also a researcher in 5 funded projects (4 in straight collaboration with the industry), a co-supervisor of 5 students (3 PhD, 1 MSc, 1 BSc), a mentor (4 PhD students), and a lecturer of 2 courses at ESAN-UA. Recently, she has a place in the School Council of ESAN-UA and is actively involved in public engagement actions (e.g. UA Summer School).
