Flávia V. Barbosa is an R&D team on Advanced Methodologies in Product Development and Additive Manufacturing at the Product and Systems Development unit of the nstitute of Science and Innovation in Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Engineering (INEGI) since 2023, with experience in the technical management of research projects related to product design, industrial resilience, and sustainability. Her work focuses on the application of approaches that focus on zero-waste and zero-defect methodologies, as well as human-centered design, SMART systems, and product design methodologies. She earned in 2021 a PhD in Leaders for Technical Industries under the MIT Portugal Program, and conducted her works at the Thermofluids and Energy Technologies group, at the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Minho. With graduation in Mechanical Engineering and a Master in Energy and Environment Technologies, she integrated the MSEAS group at MIT for 4 months to improve numerical simulation skills. She was a Teaching Assistant between 2019 and 2023 and taught practical classes in Fluid Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer and Laboratory of Transfer Phenomena and Materials. She supervised more than 10 master's dissertations and one PhD student.

2016/04/01 - 2016/06/30 Consultancy work for the company Mfactor3, Inovações e Tecnologias Lda, Braga. This work consisted of the technical analysis of the project - Refrigeration vessels - and consisted of the use of vessels with flexible tubes connected to a water pump for cooling applications. To determine the system efficiency, calculations regarding the thermal properties over the different stages of the refrigeration cycle are analyzed and compared with a typical system with an air compressor.
