I am a PhD student of the Doctoral Program in Neuroscience of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Porto. My main areas of interests are Toxicology and Neurosciences, with a specific emphasis on Neuropharmacology and Neurotoxicology. Bringing together these two topics, my PhD project explores the mechanisms of cannabinoid-induced epigenetic modifications associated with aging and age-related neurodegeneration - which was awarded a competitive grant from the Foundation for Science and Technology (Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia). Under the name Rita Roque-Bravo, I have authored six journal articles, five conference abstracts, and a book chapter as the primary author. Additionally, I have contributed as a co-author to three other articles and two abstracts. My academic background includes Bachelor's degree in Biology from the Faculty of Sciences, University of Porto, and a Master's degree in Analytical, Clinical, and Forensic Toxicology from the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Porto. During my master's studies, I investigated the hepatotoxic effects of new psychoactive substances, presenting the findings at numerous national and international scientific conferences and meetings. Notably, I was honored with an award from the Fundação Professor Ernesto Morais for one of these presentations.
