Since my graduation in Marine Biology and Fisheries (5 years degree) and master in Biotechnology, by the University of the Algarve, I have always dedicated myself to science and my passion for research. I have a PhD (with honnors) since 2020 in Biology with specialization in Ecotoxicology, by the University of Aveiro (UA) in collaboration with Aarhus University in Denmark. Presently I am a contracted researcher at the UA through an EU project. Just recently (November 2022) I started a prestigious FCT researcher 6 years work contract via a competitive national application (CEEC: 2021.01725.CEECIND - Individual Call to Scientific Employment Stimulus - 4th Edition), where I was scored no.3 (out of 10) in the national competition. During my scientific pathway, among the most relevant outcomes I consider the contribute towards the development of new ecotoxicological tests (embryonic development, full life cycle and multigenerational) with a standard soil invertebrate species, was a highly relevant step. The development of the new ecotoxicological testes have a direct application in the evaluation of hazard and risk of environmental stressors. These new tests are an important addition to the actual standardized tests (OECD). At a similar level, I have been responsible for the optimization of novel molecular and histopathological tools, to assess epigenetic mechanisms, namely DNA methylation and immunohistochemistry, which are currently available for less than a handful of species. Lately, I have also been interested on how soil invertebrates are dealing with climate changes and their own function on how these species can help mitigate climate change impacts. As may be confirmed, I authored 23 scientific papers in international peer-reviewed journals, having a h-index of 15 and more than 600 citations. I have participated so far (past and ongoing) in 5 projects on soil ecotoxicology and nanotoxicology, 3 national funded projects by FCT and 2 EU international projects. I was awarded two best posters in national (2016) and international conference (2018). The total of my participation in national and international conferences sums to 20 posters and 7 oral presentations. Last, I would like to stress my passion for science dissemination to young students, having already co-supervised 10 undergraduated students and presently I am supervising 1 master student.
