Ana Machado graduated in Genetics and Biotechnology from the School of Life and Environmental Sciences at the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD) in 2022. During her undergraduate studies, she completed a curricular internship at the Animal and Veterinary Research Center (CECAV), where she analyzed the genetic variability of a roe deer population in northern Portugal. In 2022, Ana also began her Master’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Biology. In 2023, she undertook an extracurricular internship in the Medical Microbiology Laboratory at UTAD. In September 2023, Ana joined the Immunology of Inflammatory and Infectious Diseases team at the Life and Health Sciences Research Institute (ICVS), where she worked on her Master’s dissertation and currently continues her research. Her research focuses on studying the role of c-MET, a crucial receptor tyrosine kinase, in anti-fungal immune response.
