With a background in biotechnology and biophysics, my research has been pushed towards the development of biomaterials for regenerative purposes and in vitro models of human tissues. In 2021, I finished the PhD in Tissue Engineering, Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cells, during which was deeply focused on the development of ECM (decellularized)-based materials for renal regeneration. Throughout my scientific career, I performed three working periods abroad, the first at the Universitat Politècnica de València (Spain), the second at the University of Florence (Italy), and more recently, in 2023, at the University of Maastricht (Netherlands). I have 17 publications in international peer-reviewed journals (10 as first-author) and 16 oral communications, including 5 invited talks in international conferences/workshops. I am an active science communicator and disseminator to the general public, and I also give "Communication and Presentation Techniques" classes to 2nd year Engineering Grad Students. I currently mentor and supervise 8 students (including 2 PhD scholarships in co-supervision), all of them working with different 3D/4D printing strategies. Currently, I am working on the H2020 InterLynk project, to develop human-based multi-material bioactive scaffolds for the regeneration of complex multi-tissue interfaces. I was granted a scientific employment stimulus contract last year (CEECIND, FCT) with the project TISSUES2GO, aimed at developing a versatile/scale-up tool for designing tissue-specific inks for 3D bioprinting of cell-rich tissues. I have received 7 awards/grants for the recognition of my work, including the Young Investigator Award from CICECO in October 2024.
