Inês Pereira holds a BSc and an MSc in Biomedical Science from Coventry University and is currently pursuing her PhD in Biomedical Science at the Instituto de Higiene e Medicina Tropical – Universidade NOVA de Lisboa (IHMT-NOVA). During her Master’s studies, she received a Silver Leadership Award, completed a CMI Level 7 Certificate in Strategic Management and Leadership Practice, and worked as a student mentor. Her PhD research focuses on repurposing drugs to enhance Neisseria gonorrhoeae treatment through the identification of antibiotic adjuvants using an in silico strategy. In particular, the selected drug candidates target efflux systems in N. gonorrhoeae as a novel approach against antimicrobial resistance. She is a co-author of a published article and presented a poster as first author at the 2nd Egas Moniz One Health Symposium, based on her internship work at IHMT-NOVA. She also presented a poster at the 2025 Gordon Research Conference on Multidrug Efflux Systems, related to her PhD project, and is currently finalizing a manuscript for submission to Antibiotics peer-reviewed journal.
