Ana de Freitas is Vice-Rector for Quality, Planning and Education, University of Algarve, since December 2021 , and was Vice-Rector for Institutional Development (2017-2021), Vice-Rector for Community, Evaluation and Quality (2014-2017) and also for Teaching (2014-2015). Between 2009 and 2013 she was director of School of Health Sciences, University of Algarve. She represents the University of Algarve at the Regional Commission for the Safeguarding of the Mediterranean Diet in the Algarve Region (since 2014) and at the Competence Centre for the Mediterranean Diet (since 2018). She was Head of the Coordinating Committee of the Portuguese Network of Higher Education Institutions for the Safeguarding of Mediterranean Diet (2019-2021) and coordinates the working group for safeguarding the Mediterranean Diet at the University of Algarve since 2014. Her main current interests are: strategic planning, evaluation and quality in Higher Education; strategic planning and safeguarding the Mediterranean Diet as a promoter of sustainable development and territorial cohesion.
