I am a political ecologist with interdisciplinary skills. Currently, I am working at CES – UC, Portugal, granted with the FCT Fellowship for a 6-years project on the Commons. My research aims to develop a comprehensive approach to the Commons and its role in the changing economy. I do so by integrating the institutional Analysis of E. Ostrom's school, the political economy analysis of enclosures and the disruptive peer-to-peer practices in the digital environment. My academic work employs innovative frameworks drawn from ecological economics, political economy, applied and empirical analysis of the economic system, and political theory to investigate changes in the societal metabolic patterns and the consequent environmental injustice they can generate. My research outcomes are relevant for a range of fields: such as Ecological Economics; Political Science; Environmental Sociology, Energy and Engineering, Social and Environmental Science and Sustainability study. I built my international reputation leading empirical analysis of waste-related environmental conflicts and crime. My research on waste impacted society at large: I delivered a report to the Italian Ministry of Environment (2015) and co-authored an Amicus Curiae for the European Court of Human Rights on the victims of illegal waste trafficking (2019). I have looked at the economic and geographical consequences of the state's agency responses to climate and ecological disasters. Currently, I am best known internationally for my leading role in degrowth scholarship. My framework is informing theoretical reflections on transitions toward societies that prosper without growth. My edited book (Routledge) is considered a landmark publication in post-growth studies. My co-authored monograph (Polity) on the topic is attracting international attention. My ability to publish in the finest scientific journal is proof of my work's high quality, as it is the high number of citations my papers receive. I have published in journal ranked in Q1 and D1 (SJR) in the field of economics and businesses such as Ecological Economics (3+1), Journal of Cleaner Production (3), Futures (1); in economic geography such as Global Environmental Change (1). I have matured experiences as a guest editor (5), I have 2 special issues in Q1 Journal in economics such as Ecological Economics and Futures I am part of several international academic networks, as my participation in 6 wide EU funded projects certifies. I gained scientific management leadership as ENTITLE (MSCA) Deputy Scientific Coordinator. I have a proven ability to get funds for financing my research interests. I have presented tens of papers at international conferences; 4 as an invited speaker and 3 as the keynote speaker. I have extensively lectured and delivered talks across the world. I am contributing to social campaigns: the GND for Europe and the Care Income now! My research outcomes appear in national and international media, e.g. Spanish TV broadcasts, Italian newspapers.I am an ecological economist with interdisciplinary skills.
