Michaela Schwarz S G Henriques

Michaela Schwarz S G Henriques completed her Ph.D. in Studies of Literature and Culture - English Studies in 2015 at the University of Lisbon, School of Arts and Humanities; her Master in English Studies - English Culture in 2000 at the University of Lisbon, School of Arts and Humanities, and her Licenciatura in Modern Languages and Literatures, English and German in 1992 at the same institution. She has worked as a freelance translator since the late 1980s. Her interest in and knowledge of languages and culture, German and English in particular, have led to teaching posts at various institutions. She is currently Invited Adjunct Professor at the Estoril Higher Institute for Tourism and Hotel Studies (Escola Superior de Hotelaria e Turismo do Estoril). Her research focuses on 19th and 20th century social movements, in particular women's and peace movements; the socio-cultural impacts of World War I and II, neuroscientific developments and their relevance to culture studies; and the complex relationship between Tourism and culture(s).
