Jose Manuel Azevedo is a lecturer in the Mathematics Department, ISCAP (Porto Accounting and Business School)/Polytechnic University of Porto (P.PORTO), Porto, Portugal, since 1998. He obtained his Ph.D. in Education (Mathematics) (UBI), MSc in Mathematics in 1999 (U. Lusíadas), Degree in Mathematics in 1990 by the University of Porto Faculty of Sciences and Diploma of Advanced Studies in Mathematical Methods and Numerical Simulation in Engineering and Applied Sciences in 2005 by the University of Santiago de Compostela Faculty of Mathematics. He is an integrated member and researcher at CEOS.PP Research Center, since 2017. He works in the area(s) of Exact Sciences, with emphasis on Applied Mathematics, Education Sciences and Economics and Management, with emphasis on Econometrics. In his professional activities, he has interacted with 34 collaborators in co-authorships of scientific works. His research interests are Analytics, Mathematics Education, E-Assessment, Financial Mathematics, Financial Time Series, Quantitative Methods, Data Mining, E-Learning and Research Methodologies. He published several articles in conferences and some journals. He is a member of the program committee of conferences in his areas of research. Besides, he also serves as a reviewer for Journals and conferences. He supervises master students in related areas of his research interests. He won two awards: 3rd Excellence Awards in e-Learning (2017) - Certificate of Merit for the case study: MatActiva Project - A dynamic mathematical environment to engage students in the learning process. 8th Excellence Award for Innovation in Teaching Methodologies (2023) - Winner for the case study: How can students become junior scientists? The five-year story of the Research Methodologies and Scientific Communication Course.
