Diana Campos is a Junior Researcher at the Centre for Environmental and Marine Studies (CESAM) and the Department of Biology, University of Aveiro. She holds a PhD in Biology (2018) and a Master’s in Applied Biology (2012), both from the University of Aveiro, and a Degree in Marine Biology and Biotechnology (2010) from the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria, graduating with distinction (final score: 17/20). Her postdoctoral career has been marked by her participation in FCT-funded projects, including ComPET (ecological impacts of microplastics), Gogofrog (developing in vitro alternatives to amphibian aquatic stage testing), and SLEEP (investigating melatonin’s role in ecological effects of artificial light at night). Recently, she was contracted by FCT project LED, which aims to address the ecological consequences of endocrine disruption induced by light pollution in urban aquatic environments contaminated by antineoplastic drugs. Diana Campos has authored or co-authored 33 ISI-indexed papers, presented more than 30 national and international conference communications (oral and poster), and is the first and corresponding author of a book chapter. She was a member of the Organising Committee of the International Congress Sibecol. Her research focuses on eco(toxico)logy and the conservation of freshwater resources, with an emphasis on emerging/persistent contaminants such as pharmaceuticals, personal care products, and micro-nano plastics, under realistic exposure scenarios and across biological levels of organisation. Diana Campos has supervised degree and master’s students and engaged in various outreach activities, including school visits, lab workshops, and participation in science fairs. Her active involvement in public engagement underscores her commitment to science dissemination and community impact.
