Sylvain Lannebère, born in Bordeaux (France) in 1984, is a 40-year-old French physicist specialized in light-matter interactions, electromagnetism and photonics. He earned his Master’s degree in Physics from the University of Bordeaux in 2008 and com- pleted his PhD on the theoretical study of metamaterials at the same university in November 2011. He then worked as a post- doctoral researcher on related topics at the University of Siena (Italy) in 2012, before joining the University of Coimbra in 2013 as a researcher, where he held this position until September 2024. Since then, he has served as a Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Minho. His research interests include condensed matter physics, nanophotonics, photonic crystals, metamaterials, graphene, and topo- logical photonics, focusing on the fundamental physics of complex materials and their interactions with electromagnetic waves. Dr. Lannebère has authored 19 articles in peer-reviewed journals, presented at 38 international and national conferences (including 5 invited talks), and taught for over 630 hours. In recognition of his work, he received the APS award for the best theoretical paper at the Metamaterials’ 2022 international conference. Throughout his career, Dr. Lannebère has been involved in 14 scientific projects, co-supervised 4 MSc dissertations, reviewed 25 articles, chaired 3 sessions at international conferences, and participated in the organization of two international conferences and a special session in another.
