Gabriela Carvalho is a research member in i2ADS, curator and writer. PhD in Arts at FBAUP (FCT research scholarship holder 2020-2024) with the project "While I Speak [...]", interested in the study of monocultures related to plagues and weeds in the perspective of the Plantationceno as a means for a critical performance in the field of arts and science. In 2023, did a research residency at Centro de Investigaciones y Estudios de Género, at Universidade Nacional Autônoma do México, where worked in the studies of decolonial feminism and its relationship with the land. Taught the course "Voces Dañinas: susurros al pie de la historia" at the SOMA Educational Program, in Mexico City. She has presented and published developments from her most recent research "Por uma epistemologia das pragas" at events in Porto, Lisboa, Mindelo (CV), Fortaleza (BR), Mexico City (MX) and Sevilha (ES). Some highlights: "Conversas Daninhas", carried out in the context of the project "Neve Insular, 0.0003%: Algodão e Resistência", at the Cabo Verde Cultural Center in Lisbon (2023); "Enquanto Falo: lavo, corto, pico e levo ao fogo", developed in partnership with ID-CAI, A Soalheira community garden and the guests António Gouveia and Marta Lança, in the kitchen of the AL859 association, Porto (2022). Master in Arts from Universidade do Estado de Minas Gerais (BR) wich a research about the exhibition space in the trajectory of Lucy R. Lippard, especially on her work with printed exhibitions and independent publications. Work as curator since 2011, having worked on several projects in independent, commercial and institutional arts spaces. As writer, published poetry and prose texts in collective publications. With the project "Cartas à Maria", participate in the anthologies "VOLTA para tua terra [...]" (2022/23); "Epistolária: cartas para a desobediência, a beleza e o fim" (2022) and the exhibition "Fresta, Fenda ou Ruído", at Casa Museu Abel Salazar (Porto, 2022).
