Alexandra Catarina Machado Veiga graduated in Applied Biology (School of Sciences, University of Minho, Braga, Portugal) in 2022. The final BSc project, conducted at the Life and Health Research Institute (ICVS) under the supervision of João Filipe Oliveira (PhD), consisted in dissecting the role of astrocytic activity in the regulation of cortico-limbic circuits. In 2022, AV enrolled in the MSc program in Health Sciences at ICVS, focusing on a thesis that explored the role of astrocytic Foxo1 in the dorsal hippocampus, under the supervision of João Filipe Oliveira. During that period, AV obtained experience in animal experimentation and performed behavioral, molecular and structural analyses. Furthermore, AV has first authorship of a review and contributed to three papers. Currently, AV is hired as a research fellow at JFO laboratory, studying how neuron-astrocyte signaling in cortico-limbic regions modulates circuit function and behavior.
