Mafalda Lobo has a PhD in Social Communication from the University of Minho. She is an researcher at Communication and Society Studies Center (CECS) at University of Minho and Communication Institute of University Nova (ICNOVA). She has a B.A, (2002) in Social Communication at the Higher Institute of Social and Political Sciences (ISCSP) and an M.A., (2009) in Social Communication (ISCSP). She has participated in several national and international research projects in her research areas: journalism, media, politics, political communication, and digital political communication in national and international contexts, and she has been published scientific articles in national and international peer-review journals. She received the award Jacques Delors 2010 for her master's research: Image of the Africa in the European Press of the EU-Africa Summit, and she has been regularly invited by media to give interviews related to the areas she investigates. Mafalda Lobo é Doutorada em Ciências da Comunicação na Universidade do Minho em Estudos de Comunicação: Tecnologia, Cultura e Sociedade no âmbito do programa doutoral em regime de consórcio com seis centros de investigação em Ciências da Comunicação em Portugal, financiado pela FCT com bolsa de doutoramento (BID): Centro de Estudos de Comunicação e Sociedade, Instituto de Ciências Sociais (CECS) Universidade do Minho; Centro de Investigação e Estudos de Sociologia (CIES); Laboratório de Comunicação Online (LabCom) UBI; Centro de Investigação Média e Jornalismo (CIMJ); Centro de Estudos de Comunicação e Linguagens (CECL) Universidade Nova de Lisboa); Centro de Investigação em Comunicação Aplicada, Cultura e Novas Tecnologias (CICANT), Universidade Lusófona de Humanidades e Tecnologia. É investigadora do ICNOVA, Instituto de Comunicação da Nova (FCSH) e investigadora do Centro de Estudos Comunicação e Sociedade (CECS) da Universidade do Minho. Licenciada em Comunicação Social pelo Instituto Superior de Ciências Sociais e Políticas (2002), Mestre em Comunicação Social pelo ISCSP (2009). Tem participado em vários projetos de investigação nacionais e internacionais nas suas áreas de investigação: jornalismo, media, politica, comunicação política e comunicação política digital em contexto nacional e internacional. Recebeu o prémio Jacques Delors 2010 pelo trabalho de investigação de mestrado com o tema: A imagem de África na Imprensa Europeia. O Caso da Cimeira UE-África em dezembro de 2007, e é regularmente convidada por vários órgãos de informação para entrevistas relacionadas com as áreas que investiga.
