Mafalda Lobo has a PhD in Social Communication from the University of Minho. She is an researcher at Communication and Society Studies Center (CECS) at University of Minho and Communication Institute of University Nova (ICNOVA). She has a B.A, (2002) in Social Communication at the Higher Institute of Social and Political Sciences (ISCSP) and an M.A., (2009) in Social Communication (ISCSP). She has participated in several national and international research projects in her research areas: society, journalism, media, politics, and political communication in national and international contexts, and she has been published scientific articles in national and international peer-review journals. She received the award Jacques Delors 2010 for her master's research: Image of the Africa in the European Press of the EU-Africa Summit, and she has been invited by media to interviews related the areas she investigates. É professora e investigadora do ICNOVA, Instituto de Comunicação da Nova (FCSH), Centro de Estudos Comunicação e Sociedade (CECS) da Universidade do Minho e Observatório Político. Licenciada em Comunicação Social pelo Instituto Superior de Ciências Sociais e Políticas (2002) e Mestre em Comunicação Social pelo ISCSP (2009). Tem participado em vários projetos de investigação nacionais e internacionais nas suas áreas de investigação: sociedade, media, jornalismo, politica e comunicação política em contexto nacional e internacional. Recebeu o prémio Jacques Delors 2010 pelo trabalho de investigação de mestrado com o tema: A imagem de África na Imprensa Europeia. O Caso da Cimeira UE-África em dezembro de 2007.
