Dr. Tuhin Malik is a researcher at CFisUC, University of Coimbra. I completed my Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in 2020 at the Birla Institute of Technology and Science, my Postgraduate in Masters of Science (M.Sc) Physics in 2014 from the Indian Institute of Technology, Dhanbad, and my Bachelor in Physics Hons in 2011 by University of Calcutta, India. I have published 2 chapters of a book and 30 articles to date (14 h-index on the inspirehep and Google Scholar database) and among them, 12 in PRD (one is in press), 5 in PRC, 3 in PRC Letter, 3 in APJ, 3 in JCAP, 2 in EPJ ST, 1 in EPJ, and 1 in Particles. One of the PRC papers (Phys. Rev.C 98 (2018) 3, 035804) was developed just after the detection of the gravitational waves emitted by a binary neutron star merger, relating nuclear matter properties and neutron star properties, and has presented more than 200 citations. In most of my papers, I am either the first author or the corresponding author, meaning that I was the one who developed most of the work and coordinated the work. My research work has been developed with different groups in India (Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics Kolkata, Physical Research Laboratory Ahmedabad, Institute of Physics Bhubaneswar), and during my Ph.D. I have initiated a collaboration with researchers from different European groups (Universities of Coimbra, Caen, Bucaresti, and CAMK in Warsaw). Recently I have also initiated collaboration with Salamanca, the Institute for Theoretical Physics in Frankfurt, and Cracow INP. I was recognized for my research work already as a student and received an international travel grant award from the Indian government to visit two different international conferences in France and the UK during my Ph.D. After finishing my Ph.D. I was awarded a post-doctoral position at the University of Coimbra, where I arrived in the middle of the pandemic period. My expertise in statistical methods and neutron star equation of state together with the CFisUC expertise in relativistic mean field models allowed me to develop a set of works constraining nuclear models using Bayesian inference spanning the full range of neutron star properties within a microscopic description which I believe will have an impact on the field. In order to disseminate my work, I have contributed with oral talks at several international conferences/workshops (ECT*, IST Lisbon, Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics in Kolkata, India). I am currently a member of the editorial board of Frontiers in Physics Journal, and I have reviewed articles from several international journals in my area of expertise such as PRD, APJ, Frontiers in Physics, EPJC, MNRS, Universe and Particles. I have participated in several examinations of MSc and Ph.D. students as a jury member. I am presently the organiser of the weekly Journal Club in my research group. My main research interest is in neutron stars and their macro- and microscopic properties and structure, including the equation of state of nuclear and stellar matter, exotic matter in the core of NS, and the hadron-quark phase transition, among others. I am an expert in Bayesian Inference, Machine Learning, Data Analysis, Parallel computing, and other tools used in my research work. Currently, I officially co-supervise a Ph.D. student Milena Bastos Albino with an FCT grant (CFisUC Coimbra) and the Ph.D. student Prashant Thakur (BITS-Goa, India). I have collaborated in the supervision of several master's and bachelor's students and summer internships throughout my research career. Aside from this, I have unofficially co-supervised two Ph.D. students in India, Mr Deepak Kumar (PRL, India) and Mr Naresh Kr. Patra (BITS-Goa, India), among whom Mr. Deepak has already completed his PHD.
