Dr. Miriam Corraliza-Gomez graduated in Biotechnology Degree (University of Salamanca, Spain, 2015) and obtained a doctorate in Biomedical Research at the University of Valladolid, obtaining the highest grade (Outstanding cum laude with International Mention) in December 2021, as well as the Extraordinary Award Doctorate in Health Sciences. Her PhD Thesis work focused on the study of the insulin-degrading enzyme (IDE), starting from the molecular evolution and subcellular localization of the protein, and then studying the functions of IDE in microglia. During her predoctoral training, Dr. Corraliza learned numerous molecular and cellular biology techniques, driven by her enormous scientific curiosity, and also spent a stay at the Bioinformatics Unit of the Gulbenkian Institute of Science (Oeiras, Portugal) to learn the technique of transcriptomic analysis using RNA-Seq, obtaining a multidisciplinary profile. In parallel to her research activity, Dr. Corraliza-Gomez also trained as a teacher in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and Physiology, participating as research staff in training in teaching various subjects of the Degree in Medicine at the University of Valladolid, as well as as in a subject of the Master's Degree in Biomedical Research at the same University, and supervising two experimental Bachelor's Thesis of the Degree in Medicine. After defending her Doctoral Thesis, Dr. Corraliza joined Dr. García-Alloza's group (University of Cádiz) to continue training in the field of Neuroscience, focusing on the study at a central level of the common pathophysiological mechanisms in the Alzheimer's disease and diabetes. In December 2022, she obtained a Margarita Salas postdoctoral contract (Requalification Grants from the Spanish University System) to carry out two years of postdoctoral training in the context of an international collaboration between two groups: Prof. Dora Brites (University of Lisbon, Portugal) where she worked on the project "Therapeutic efficacy of exo-miRNAs in Alzheimer's disease", and Dr. García-Alloza's group, which she rejoined in January 2024 and where she is already co-directing, together with the PI, a Doctoral Thesis that will be defended in 2024. Dr. Corraliza-Gomez has participated in 8 research projects and has published 9 scientific publications (7 primary research articles, 1 review and 1 systematic review) in important journals in her area of ¿¿knowledge, reaching an h-index of 5. Of these publications, which include national and international collaborations, Dr. Corraliza is first author of 63% of them, last author of 13% and corresponding author in 25% of them, which reflects her hard work and scientific maturity.
